Tea for guests instead of coffee: how to offer a choice
Offer 3–4 teas: one with more caffeine (black 14–48 mg), one lighter (green 11–29 mg) and one without (rooibos, herbal). In the evening offer the caffeine-free ones first.
What you need
- 3–4 kinds of tea
- Hot water and cups
- A small card with caffeine amounts (optional)
How to make it
- Pick black, green, rooibos and one herbal blend.
- Put milk or a plant drink, lemon and honey nearby.
- Say which teas have no caffeine.
- After dinner offer the caffeine-free drinks first.
How much caffeine
Black 14–48 mg, green 11–29 mg, matcha 38–89 mg, a cup of filter coffee 80–107 mg. Rooibos has no caffeine.
Tips
- You need not explain why no more coffee: just offer.
- For pregnant guests EFSA suggests up to 200 mg of caffeine a day, so a caffeine-free choice is handy.
