A focus ritual for work: one cup and a timer
Before important work have one cup of green tea (11–29 mg) or matcha (38–89 mg), set a timer (for example 25–50 minutes) and put your phone away. More cups add caffeine, not ritual.
What you need
- Green tea or matcha
- A timer
- A place without notifications
How to make it
- Prepare the tea before you start, not during.
- Set the timer and pick one task.
- When it ends, take a short break: stand up, stretch, drink water.
- Track how much caffeine you have had in the day.
How much caffeine
Green tea and matcha contain both caffeine and L-theanine. A review (Nutrition Reviews 2008) describes their effects on mood and attention; we do not promise a specific benefit. EFSA limit at one time: 200 mg.
Tips
- If you have started cutting coffee, matcha may be too strong: choose green tea.
- A ritual works when it repeats: same cup, same place.
